How a Workshop Day Is Built Around Your Own Work
The most useful marketing workshops are the ones where participants leave with something they can use the next morning. That is why each session is organised around real material: bring a current campaign, a product you need to launch, a social media account that has gone quiet or a brand that no longer reflects what your business does. Exercises are applied directly to those cases, so the theory always lands on a concrete problem.
Preparing before you attend
A little preparation makes a big difference. Before the session, it helps to gather:
- A clear objective, such as more enquiries, stronger repeat sales or better awareness in a specific neighbourhood or audience.
- Recent examples of your posts, adverts, flyers or emails, including the ones that did not perform well.
- Basic numbers you already have access to, like website visits, follower growth or sales by channel, even if they are rough.
- One or two competitors whose communication you admire or want to differentiate from.
The shop-window principle
Much of the workshop thinking is inspired by the discipline of a good shop window: a passer-by has only a few seconds to understand what is on offer, why it matters and what to do next. Participants practise reducing a message to that level of clarity, then testing it across formats, from a short social caption to a landing page headline. The same test works for market research summaries, brand positioning statements and content calendars.
Working in teams
When colleagues attend together, exercises are adapted so that sales, design and management perspectives meet in the same room. This often reveals gaps between how a company describes itself internally and what customers actually hear, which is one of the most valuable outcomes of a group session.
After the session
Participants are encouraged to choose one action to implement within a week and to measure it simply. For further reading on campaign planning and content ideas, browse the Insights section, see how similar thinking has been applied in the Portfolio, or use the Contact page to ask about dates and formats for your team.
